First Generation Student Alliance
An art gallery hosted completely by first-generation students! Students got to display their art and let their voices be heard, both through art and words.
Students got together at the beginning of the Spring quarter to reunite with fellow members, stay up to date with our org's current activities, and bond over some food and games afterward!
At the end of the Winter quarter, we had the opportunity to celebrate students' successes over some food and games and wish them a restful Spring Break and good luck for the next quarter!
These events are held a few times a quarter and serve to update members on what's currently going on; these are great opportunities to get involved and learn more about the organization. Plus, there are usually fun activities planned, so feel free to just get together and hang out!
The aim of these events are to provide a space for fostering community, whether that's among students (at socials) or with first-gen faculty, staff, and industry professionals (mixers).
A weekly engagement opportunity, such as a meal, social gathering, or a place to study together. Come out and get to meet new people! Food is typically provided during these events.
FGSA and other first-gen communities (e.g. Triton Firsts) will often be out tabling on Library Walk or for events! Stop by our table and say hi, or learn more about our organization.
OASIS provides lots of programming for academic support, such as study jams and tutoring sessions, as well as professional support and promoting cultural heritage.
There are many community resource centers on campus dedicated to serving specific cultures or identities. Each of them have their own programming and/or calendars to highlight other important events and deadlines.
UCSD has an official first-generation initiative, and many of the resources and events they have are shared with us! We encourage you to check them out and engage with them directly as well.
